We all know about pairing wine with food: Sauvignon Blanc with Oysters, Pinot Noir with Salmon etc. But all of us wine aficionados love music, too. So let’s be the first to establish the great pairings of wine and music. Some ideas:
For Zinfandel, think Wild Thing (Troggs). If you love Pinot Noir for its elegance, think Pretty Woman (Roy Orbison). No-Oak Chardonnay: Like a Virgin (Madonna). Love a wine and don’t want to share: how about Stay with Me (Faces-Rod Stewart), Prefer heavy unfiltered reds: think Purple Haze (Jimi Hendrix). Lament that some wines are way too alcoholic: remember Higher and Higher (Jackie Wilson)? Or maybe you want to identify wine with the singers themselves. Juice Newton? For the peach aromatics of Viognier, how about Peaches and Herb of We Belong Together fame? And, of course, the English pop star Pink for Rose.
Here’s the point—we have the ground floor opportunity to come with the definitive pairings of wine and music. So let’s get started (as Pink would say). Please leave any of your suggestions of wine and music pairings to share with us!
