1772 Grenache 2019
This lush wine has a classic Grenache tannin structure that shows nicely in the mid-palate. The Grenache grapes coming from the Poletti section offer a juicy textural component. It receives ample afternoon sun before the coastal breeze and evening fog roll into the valley. The block planted on the Salaal section contributes the velvety tannin structure. These vines are planted on the valley floor, which offers a rich clay soil.
Wine Notes and Pairing Suggestion:
Grenache is one of the top ten planted grape varieties in the world and this grape deserves more credit, particularly when it’s allowed to express its unique, full-bodied personality of ripe red fruits and balanced acidity. The secret at Tolosa is a mix of warm and cool fermentations and aging in large oak puncheons that allows the charming personality of Grenache to bloom. Pouring the 1772 Grenache 2019 into a decanter for an hour or so before you have it will encourage even more of that Grenache character to come out and make sure to try it with this White Bean and Sausage Cassoulet recipe.
