WINEMAKER NOTES
Due to our long, cool growing season, Grenache is always the last varietal we harvest, waiting to get that perfect moment of ripeness. 2016 was no exception. We hand pick the fruit in 35 lb lug bins in order to be extremely gentle on the clusters. Once the fruit reaches the winery, we hand sort the clusters into our destemmer and then through our optical sorter to ensure only the best berries make it into our fermenters. For this vintage, our two different blocks were inoculated with two different strains of yeast to create two very distinct wines. Both lots were aged separately to develop their own individual characteristics. After 14 months of aging, each lot was tasted barrel by barrel to select only the best barrels for the final blend.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD
Two different blocks from our Edna Ranch were used to make this wine: one situated in the Salaal section and the other one in the Poletti section. The first one brings more structure to the wine, while the second one provides more of a fruity profile.
