1772 Chardonnay 2018
The 1772 Chardonnay is Tolosa’s classic Chardonnay, as it captures the essence of our estate vineyard, Edna Ranch. In 2018, the fall weather was mild yet consistent, which allowed us to take our time harvesting the grapes to make sure they were picked at preferred ripeness. This vintage was showing an attractive acidity, so we cut back on new oak to harmonize all components of the Chardonnay. The cooler vintage shines in this wine showcasing the fresh fruit, tension and minerality of Edna Valley.
Notes and Pairing Suggestion from Bob Bath, MS:
It’s fair to assume that most California Chardonnay should be consumed sooner than later, they simply don’t get better over time. This wine
is just the opposite, it’s exciting to think where this wine will be in five years. The toasty, confectionary almond and gardenia notes are the
perfect compliment to the honeydew melon, yellow apple and apricot fruit aromas. Most importantly, the medium body and bright acidity
of this wine proudly speaks to Edna Valley. This Creamy Pappardelle with Leeks and Bacon recipe and this wine creates a memorable food
and wine experience. View Recipe
