The 2023 Apex Vineyard Pinot Noir is a beautiful expression of the Santa Lucia Highlands, crafted from a cool, extended growing season that nurtured exceptional balance and depth. Sourced from Ray Franscioni’s crown jewel vineyard, perched at 1,250 feet, this wine showcases the influence of gravelly loam soils and cool Monterey Bay breezes, resulting in a vibrant and complex Pinot Noir.
With a delicate ruby hue and subtle pink rim, the wine opens with bright aromas of cranberry, rhubarb, and ripe strawberry, layered with floral notes, earthy mushroom, and a hint of oregano. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with flavors of tart raspberry and cranberry, complemented by raw almond, red licorice, and Earl Grey tea. The smooth, lingering finish perfectly balances fruit and savory elements.
Aged for 11 months in French oak, this Pinot Noir offers a refined and balanced profile, making it a true standout from the Santa Lucia Highlands.
