Primera is a small-lot selection of the best of our estate vineyard, Edna Ranch, located in the coolest appellation in California, San Luis Obispo Coast. Only the finest choice of French oak barrels is used to age our highest echelon wine.
The 2023 Primera Pinot Noir is the pinnacle of Tolosa’s winemaking, representing the ultimate expression of the Edna Valley. Crafted from a meticulous selection of the finest barrels from select blocks of Edna Ranch, this wine showcases remarkable depth, elegance, and complexity. The cooler-than-usual growing season, with its extended spring and mild summer, allowed for slow, even ripening, creating a wine with refined structure and exceptional balance.
With a rich medium-dark ruby hue and delicate pink rim, the wine opens with bold aromas of ripe plum, dark cherry, and boysenberry, complemented by earthy mushroom, peppercorn, cocoa, and fig. The medium-full palate unfolds with luscious flavors of plum, ripe strawberry, and dark cherry, layered with hints of leather, tarragon, lavender, and Earl Grey tea. The smooth, lingering finish balances fruit and savory notes, offering an expressive and refined tasting experience.
