Stone Lion Chardonnay 2020

Vintage Notes
This wine is a delicious, full-bodied wine with opulent aromatics and a vibrant acidity that helps to cut through the creaminess. Due to the longer time spent on the vine, the grapes develop a richer, riper fruit profile and softer tannins. With the extended time on the vine and in the barrel, 15 months, combined with complete malolactic fermentation, this Chardonnay's unique style is evident. You will find notes of puffed popcorn, coconut flesh, honeysuckle, banana, guava, lemon drops, vanilla bean and brown sugar that fall on the palate early on with lingering acidity, chalk and salted caramel in the finish.
Winemaking
This wine is mainly made from lots coming from our later chardonnay picks, mid-September into early-October with a few early lots to bring a touch of bright acid to this wine. To compliment this style of wine, we used 46% new French oak with 15 months in barrel.
