Celebrate 2022 as the “Year of the Library” with Winemaker Frederic Delivert as we open our cellar doors to share some of our favorite Single Vineyard and Primera 2015-2019 Library Selections.  As a Primera Tolosa member and one of our beloved wine enthusiasts, you are cordially invited to join us for an extraordinary afternoon featuring an elegant 4-course luncheon expertly prepared by Chef Jake O’ Francis of Valley Piggery and the jazzy, feel-good vibes of Kathryn Loomis and Company.

Fred will also share some insights into the evolution of the Single Vineyard and Primera programs, and you’ll hear about the process the team went through to carefully hand-pick an exclusive line-up of library wines for your 2022 Primera Tolosa Allocation.  This event will also provide a rare opportunity to preview some of our library wines that are no longer in production or have limited availability.

Primera Premiere will return in Spring of 2023! 

Because of the evolution of Primera, this one-time 2022 Winemaker's Selection Party will take the place of Primera Premiere in 2022 and the annual Tolosa Barrel Bash event will now take place on August 15th, 2022.  The 2021 vintage of Primera & Single Vineyard wines will continue to age until their later release in April 2023 and be celebrated with the return of Primera Premiere.  Below are more details.

What is the “Winemaker’s Selection Party: The Library”

Like Primera Premiere, the Winemaker’s Selection Party will be the exclusive event for our Primera Tolosa Members, and their guests, as part of our 2022 event season.  The event will include a multi-course, seated luncheon, and will feature some of our winemaker, Fred Delivert’s, favorite Single Vineyard and Primera Library Wines from 2015-2019.

Will Primera Tolosa Members be able to pick up their allocations at the Winemaker Selection Party?

No.  Allocations will be available for pick up starting Friday, August 19th through Sunday, November 27th.  Orders not picked up by November 27th will be shipped out December 5th.  Members with scheduled shipments will have allocations shipped out on October 3rd (weather permitting).

Why is the release date of Primera changing?

Since 2019, we have seen harvest shifting later every year, and wines from cool vintages need more time to develop than their warmer counterparts. As Fred has come to know our vineyards better, he is convinced that extending the aging time in barrel would be beneficial to these wines, resulting in a more mature wine when bottled and an elevated presentation when finally reaching the glass. Starting with the 2021 vintage, we will allow our Single Vineyard and Primera wines to remain longer in barrel. The result of this is that our release of these special wines will shift from November to the following April.

What are the wines in the 2022 Primera Tolosa Allocation?

Winemaker Frederick Delivert and assistant winemaker Madison Maestre, over multiple days, blind tasted more than 30 library wines ranging in vintage from 2016 to 2019 to hand-pick this special allocation.

How will this impact billing for Primera Tolosa Members?  What will be the new billing schedule?

Billing for 2022 will begin on May 10th, 2022, with installments available on May 10th, June 7th and July 12th.  PT Members will be receiving notifications in the coming weeks/months and asked to indicate their billing preference by April 29th.  Any billing questions can be directed to Tolosa Brand Ambassador Shannon Fouts at sfouts@tolosawinery.com or 805-305-9164.
